Korean skincare (often called K-beauty) conquered the world not because of miraculous promises, but because of a completely different philosophy. Instead of "fixing" the skin, the goal is to gently care for it every day: to moisturize it a lot, protect it from the sun, and not expect results overnight. It is this consistency that ultimately gives that famous healthy glow.
The 10-Step Myth
You've probably heard about the "10-step routine." The good news is that you definitely don't need all ten. It's more of a toolbox from which you choose what your skin needs. For beginners, it's much more important to adopt a few steps and stick to them than to juggle ten bottles every day.
Basic Steps
1. Cleansing. In the evening, it's worth trying double cleansing – first, makeup and SPF are removed with an oil cleanser, then the skin itself is cleansed with a gentle foaming cleanser. In the morning, the second step alone is often sufficient.
2. Toner. Balances the skin after cleansing and prepares it for other steps. Choose hydrating, alcohol-free toners.
3. Essence or Serum. This is the "heart" where active ingredients lie – hyaluronic acid for moisture, niacinamide for tone, or peptides for firmness.
4. Moisturizer. Locks in all the moisture. Lighter, gel textures are suitable for oilier skin, while richer creams are for drier skin. For example, TIRTIR Ceramic Cream hydrates and soothes without weighing down the skin.
5. Sun Protection (SPF). The most important step of the day, without which all other care loses its meaning. More on this in a separate post.
Minimal Routine for Beginners
If you're just starting out, three steps are enough:
- Cleansing – morning and evening.
- Moisturizing – e.g., TIRTIR Ceramic Cream.
- SPF – every morning.
Once accustomed, you can gradually introduce a toner and serum.
A Few Tips
Introduce new products one at a time, every few days – this way it's easier to understand what works for your skin. Listen to your skin: if something burns or dries it out, don't be afraid to stop using it. And remember – consistency is more important than the number of products.
